Preschool Teacher

 

Reports To: Principal

 

Responsibilities:  The teacher in this position will play a critical role not only in the education of our youth, but also in the continual evaluation and improvement of curriculum and effective teaching and learning strategies.

The person selected for this position is characterized by the following traits:

 

  1. The ability to provide an instructional environment that maximizes learning for preschool students and prepares them academically and socially to transition to the St John kindergarten program with necessary entry skills.
  2. An understanding of and demonstrated ability to apply the Common Core State Standards to maximize student learning.
  3. An understanding of and ability to apply effective instructional skills and assessment skills for pre-K children.
  4. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with colleagues, administrators, parents, and community.  Participate in change in a constructive way.  Flexible in dealing with changing conditions.
  5. Knowledge and ability to provide differentiated instruction to maximize student comprehension and understanding.
  6. High energy level and enthusiasm for teaching and learning.  Display an overall optimism toward teaching and learning.
